POPPITS’ CHILDCARE SERVICES
Play. Belong. Grow.
Vision statement: At Poppits’ Childcare Services, our vision is for every child to enjoy a happy, nurturing and meaningful childhood in which they feel safe, valued and included. Through secure relationships, purposeful play and opportunities to explore, we support children to develop a strong sense of belonging, communicate confidently, grow physically and emotionally, and flourish in their own individual way.
Mission statement: Our mission is to provide inclusive, rights-respecting and nurturing home-based childcare that places each child’s well-being, development and individual identity at the heart of everyday practice.
We achieve this by:
- building warm, secure and responsive relationships with children;
- listening to children and respecting their choices, feelings and preferred ways of communicating;
- providing engaging, child-led play and learning experiences;
- creating safe, welcoming and effective indoor, outdoor and community environments;
- supporting the interconnected developmental pathways of belonging, communication, exploration, physical development and well-being;
- observing children carefully and using what we notice to adapt experiences, routines and support;
- recognising that every child develops at their own pace and in their own way;
- promoting equality, inclusion, Welsh language and culture, and respect for all families;
- working in close partnership with parents, carers and relevant professionals;
- supporting children to become ambitious and capable learners, enterprising and creative contributors, ethical and informed citizens, and healthy and confident individuals.
Our commitment to children: At Poppits’, children are not expected to fit into one fixed approach. We adapt our care, environment and experiences to respond to their individual strengths, interests, communication, development and well-being.
We provide children with time and space to:
- feel secure and develop a sense of belonging;
- form positive relationships;
- communicate in ways that are meaningful to them;
- explore, investigate and follow their curiosity;
- develop confidence, independence and resilience;
- move, play and develop physical skills;
- express their identity, ideas and emotions;
- experience enjoyment, wonder and success.
Our core values
Child-centred: The needs, rights, interests and voices of children guide our decisions and everyday practice.
Nurturing: Children receive consistent care, affection, reassurance and encouragement from a responsive adult who knows them well.
Playful: We recognise play as essential to children’s happiness, development, communication, imagination and understanding of the world.
Inclusive: Every child is welcomed, valued and supported to participate, regardless of their ability, language, culture, family background or individual circumstances.
Responsive: We observe, listen and respond to what children communicate through their words, play, behaviour, choices and emotions.
Respectful: We promote kindness, fairness, dignity, empathy and respect for children, families, communities and the environment.
Reflective: We regularly evaluate our practice, documentation and environment to ensure that provision continues to meet children’s changing needs.
Poppits’ Childcare Services provides nurturing, inclusive and child-led care in a welcoming home-from-home environment. Our practice is shaped by Early Childhood Play, Learning and Care in Wales. We place children’s well-being and development at the heart of everything we do, supporting every child to play, belong, communicate, explore and grow with confidence. We work closely with families to provide care and experiences that reflect each child’s interests, identity, strengths and individual needs.
