Notifications & Alerts

How notifications work

Wootzoo sends you notifications when your nursery or setting records an update for your child — such as a nappy change, meal, sleep, or a new photo. Notifications appear in two places:

  • In-app — visible in the notification bell when you open Wootzoo
  • Push notifications — alerts that pop up on your phone even when the app is closed

Push notifications require your permission and rely on your device being registered with the app. If push notifications stop working, the fix is usually straightforward.

I'm no longer receiving push notifications

Push notifications can stop working after you change phone, reinstall the app, or if your device's notification permissions were reset. The fix is to clear the app data on your phone, which prompts Wootzoo to re-register your device.

On iPhone (Safari)
  1. Open the Settings app
  2. Scroll down and tap Safari
  3. Tap AdvancedWebsite Data
  4. Find the Wootzoo entry and swipe left to delete it
  5. Reopen the Wootzoo app and accept the notification prompt when it appears
On Android (Chrome)
  1. Long-press the Wootzoo app icon on your home screen
  2. Tap App info
  3. Tap StorageClear data
  4. Reopen the Wootzoo app and accept the notification prompt when it appears
Note: Clearing app data does not delete your account or any of your child's information — it only resets the app's local settings on your device.

Both parents want notifications

Each parent needs their own Wootzoo account linked to your child's profile. If one parent is receiving notifications but the other isn't, contact your nursery or setting and ask them to check that both accounts are connected to your child's profile.

Once linked, each parent should follow the steps above to ensure their device is registered for push notifications.

I accepted notifications but they still aren't coming through

If you've accepted the prompt but push notifications still don't arrive, check your phone's notification settings to make sure they haven't been blocked at the device level:

On iPhone
  1. Go to SettingsNotifications
  2. Find Safari in the list
  3. Make sure notifications are turned on
On Android
  1. Go to SettingsAppsChrome
  2. Tap Notifications
  3. Make sure notifications are enabled for Wootzoo

If you're still having trouble after following these steps, please contact your nursery and they can raise it with us directly.
